CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Besides the usual competitions like the men's, women's events will also take place. Women's competition

The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski was the overall champion after she maintained her lead throughout. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.

The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. The field comprises nine athletes, one of whom is a teenager who won the competition in Australia last summer. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler (who competed as a team in the 2018 division, finishing third in the United States and fifteenth overall for 2020) is another rising star. In addition to these athletes, the Women's competition will also feature a newcomer to the sport - Icelandan competitor Sara Sigmundsdottir, who won the first place medal in the World Crossfit Games earlier this year.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

CrossFit Games are a competition where athletes focus on ten skills that improve their physical fitness: speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. The athletes compete on a scale by holding two wooden pegs between their hands. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.

Cutting system

CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. Although it's not as drastic as previous Games, it is still quite different from this year. Because the competition is made up of 15 events, a cut to 30 athletes after the seventh or eighth event is very likely. CrossFit must also answer the question of how it will adjust the points following cuts. The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.

This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field is now reduced to 75. The top 30 finishers compete in a sprint pairt to determine who is the top ten. The top 20 competitors then compete for the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.

Reebok equipment

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok calls the shoe "the shoe of health," but it is more like a traditional trainer shoe. DuPont's Kevlar fabric is used for the upper, which promotes breathability and durability. The shoe's responsiveness can be enhanced by its firm midsole and RopePro Tech.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. The company won't fund the Games' prize purse, but will continue to make all of the athletic apparel and equipment worn by athletes, including the new Reebok gear. However, Reebok CrossFit Games will no longer be called the company.

How Metabolic Health is Key to Aging Well

People are living longer lives today than at any point in history. They are also becoming more sick as a result. Even though we have made significant advances in medical science it is becoming clearer that our current approach doesn't work.

We have to change how we see health and aging. For healthy aging, it is important to look at metabolic well-being - not just weight reduction but overall wellbeing.

If you want to live a healthy, active lifestyle for the rest of your life, it is important to maintain a strong metabolism throughout your entire life.

The good news is that there are many ways to improve your metabolic health. These 7 foods can be incorporated into your diet.

  1. Resveratrol has been found to be a key ingredient in blueberries, and it has been shown that it can help increase cell longevity. They are also rich in vitamins C & E and antioxidants.
  2. Lentils and pinto beans, which are legumes, provide great fiber and plant-based sources of protein. These nutrients are important for maintaining blood sugar levels that don't spike, crash or change.
  3. Broccoli's sulforaphane has been shown to protect DNA from damage in research. It may even be able to slow down cancer progression.
  4. Chia Seeds contain high levels of fiber and omega-3 fat acids. They are high in protein and antioxidants. All these nutrients support heart health, brain function and gut health.

What is the best work out for men aged 40+?

The best exercise for older men is one that gives them more energy, and increases their stamina.

It is important that you note that people over 40 experience a decrease in testosterone levels, which results in lower sex drive.

This doesn't mean that you shouldn't still engage in physical activity. There are many studies that show regular aerobic exercise can raise testosterone in some men.

If you are looking to improve your sexual performance, an aerobics workout is the best option.

Is it possible to drink alcohol while training?

Yes. Alcohol increases energy expenditure, speeds up recovery times, and reduces soreness.

The insulin sensitivity of alcohol is also increased, which makes it easier for glucose to be absorbed.

Dehydration can result from alcohol, which can affect your metabolism. Alcohol can also lower testosterone production, which could lead to a decrease in muscle-building potential.

These are the reasons women should not drink alcohol before going to work out. Women who drink heavily should wait at least 24 hours between drinking and working out.

The best thing for women who are pregnant is to avoid alcohol.

Men should only consume one drink per day.

What is a good 7-day workout schedule?

A seven-day exercise program should consist of three days per week of cardiovascular training (running, biking, swimming), two strength exercises (using free weights, weight machines), and one flexibility/core workout (yoga, Pilates). It is important to complete each activity at least once weekly. Maximum 45 minutes should be allotted for each session.

Cardiovascular Exercise: Running, Biking, Swimming

Aim to do at least 60 minutes per week of cardio. Try to do 75 minutes per semaine for the best results. Cardio exercises can be used to increase blood flow, stimulate muscle growth, and improve blood circulation.

Strength Training

While cardio exercises target the heart and lungs, strength training targets the muscles and bones. Strength training is a great way to build lean muscle mass that helps you burn calories even if you are not actively exercising.

Flexibility and Core Workouts

You can strengthen your entire body by strengthening flexibility and core exercises. Both yoga or Pilates are great options.

What is the difference between Aerobic Fitness (or Anaerobic Fitness)?

Anaerobic fitness is the ability to do intense physical work without oxygen. Anaerobic pathways are used when there is intense exercise to provide sufficient energy. Anaerobic pathways are glycolysis, creatinephosphate and the phosphagen.

Contrary to that, aerobic fitness is the ability to sustain low-intensity exercises for a long time. When performing aerobic exercises oxygen is used to fuel the cells. In other words, the aerobic pathway provides more energy than the anaerobic pathway.

You must build your aerobic capacity before you can run a marathon. You won't be successful if you focus only on your anaerobic ability.

Aerobic fitness may also be known as cardiovascular fitness. The most common methods of determining cardiovascular fitness are step tests and VO2max testing.

VO2 Max Test

The maximum amount of oxygen (O2) the body can use during exercise is called VO2 max. This test determines how much O2 your body can use during exercise.

This is the best test to assess cardiovascular fitness. However, the test can only be administered by highly trained professionals and requires expensive equipment.

Step Tests

Step tests are a quick and easy way to test your cardiovascular fitness. You will be asked to walk, jog or run for a specific time on a track. This is based on your age or weight.

These tests are easy, inexpensive, and accessible almost anywhere. You can for instance walk on a treadmill 2 minutes, then stop for 1 minute. Throughout the session, your heart rate should be within a certain range.

This is the "Bruce Protocol". Bruce, himself a runner developed this protocol when he realized his heart rate didn't rise when he ran long distances.
